Dr Jorgensen visited the Guy’s Hospital, London for a cadaveric course and case conferences with London-based Pelvis and Acetabular (P&A) surgeons. The ability to discuss the complexities and challenges of complex P&A reconstruction was invaluable, as part of the Advanced Pelvis and Custom Arthroplasty Course 2026.
Current discussion about acute arthroplasty at the same time as fixation, minimally invasive techniques, and robotics were all highlights. As was the ability to discuss cases and techniques in details, with a concurrent cadaver case for technical skill development. Dr Jorgensen presented a number of his previous cases, with debate around compound P&A injuries and spino-pelvic injuries.
Visiting a famous institution like the Guy’s Hospital (London), and participating in debate around Acetabular fracture management was challenging and incredibly worthwhile. The practices in Brisbane hold true to international standards, but their continued pursuit of excellence in London was inspiring.
